BOTZ – Creator Meeting

Community meeting in Münster at Botz
In April 2022, I was invited by the Botz company to Münster for the Creator Meeting, along with some fellow potters.
Since the beginning of my pottery journey, I have worked intensively with Botz glazes and have always enjoyed using them in my ceramic workshops.
I can still remember that my mom did a lot of pottery, when I was a child and used Botz glazes.
That's why I have been so happy about the invitation and of course gladly accepted it.

Ceramics production encompasses many different aspects, and I find glazes to be one of the most complex. This begins with the choice of glaze. Especially when you're just starting out, choosing a glaze can be quite overwhelming, as there are so many different techniques and finishing options.
When buying the glaze, there are a few things you should definitely pay attention to.
To do this, you should first ask yourself what you want to glaze. Tableware or decoration? Should the finished piece be frost-resistant? Perhaps even food-safe? What is the firing temperature, and when does the clay become dense? All of these questions should be clarified beforehand.
Botz covers these topics very clearly and structured, providing a good overview for finding the right glaze for your planned pottery project. I've already shared more about this in another blog post. I warmly invite you to read more about it here.
During the Creator Meeting, we had the opportunity to get to know the company, its history, the people, and the ideas behind it. It was truly incredibly enriching.
We received a warm welcome and first met the Botz team and the company. You can immediately sense the joy and passion for their work. I'm generally very interested in the origins of companies and was even more excited about Botz's. After being guided through the entire company and getting a good look behind the scenes, we had the opportunity to try out the different products. The team provided us with raw materials, which we then finished with Botz products. My finished pieces look like this:

My favorite product
My absolute highlight was the product BOTZ PLUS (9020).
I used BOTZ PLUS for the first time and I'm thrilled. I think the description "BOTZ PLUS – irregular, exciting, creates charming gradients" is very apt. You can see my results on this bowl, and I think the gradient looks absolutely magical.

The next day we were able to admire and discuss our finished works.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire weekend. The many impressions, the valuable conversations, the fantastic products, and the time spent together were truly inspiring. I'd like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to Botz and the entire team for this fantastic opportunity.
All love
Anna Maria
