My new clay separator - TA 103 from Botz
Share post
After a long period of making do-it-yourself provisionally, the time has finally come: I had a clay separator installed in my workshop and would like to tell you about my experience today.
All ceramicists are surely familiar with this: You've finished a few great ceramic pieces and are cleaning your workspace for new projects. This creates the recurring problem of clay residue and glazes getting into the drain during cleaning. Unfortunately, this leads to pipes clogging over time and groundwater pollution because the leftover materials can't be filtered out. To prevent this problem, there's the clay separator. A tool that, in my opinion, no workshop should be without.

What exactly does a clay separator do?
You can imagine a clay separator as a kind of small sewage treatment plant. It is installed under the sink and ensures that clay and glaze residues settle in the purification chambers, allowing only the purified water to drain away.
The TA 103 from BOTZ
During my research for a suitable clay separator, I came across the TA 103 from BOTZ. Naturally, I also asked around among my ceramics colleagues, and they also recommended this model. Installation under the vanity was quick and easy thanks to the included flexible inlet pipe and siphon.
cleaning
Thanks to the integrated trolley, you can easily move and clean the clay separator. You can then dispose of the collected clay and glaze residues properly, eliminating the need to worry about potential residual materials in the wastewater and pipes.
Advantages
With the TA 103, you not only protect your pipes from clogging, but also the environment. The clay separator reduces wastewater pollution to 10 ml per liter. This is considered safe and therefore complies with the standards of the German Wastewater Association.
Important information on use and care
According to the manufacturer Botz, the TA 103 should only be used for clay and glaze residue. For example, washed-out coffee cups with sugar residue could lead to the accumulation of bacteria and unpleasant odors. It's also advisable to let the water run during extended pottery breaks to prevent standing water in the clay separator and thus rot.
With the BOTZ TA 103 clay separator, I've found a great solution that protects my workshop and the environment. It makes my daily work easier and allows me to concentrate fully on my creative work.

If you have specific questions, I advise you to consult experts, for example, contact the retailer from whom you purchased the products or, in this case, the Botz company itself.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
All the best, your Anna Maria
